It calls itself a digital dog park.

Dognamic.com lets dog owners from around the world get acquainted by sharing stuff about their furry companions, including video, pictures and stories.

But it's much more than that. It has one unique feature whose time, some say, has finally come.

Stryker Lampe, the Web site's creator, says it's the first-ever Amber Alert for dogs.

"I wanted to come up with a system that was able, simple and completely free that allowed people that if their dog became missing, they would be able to help each other maybe in the search and try to find the lost animal," Lampe said.

The site features a virtual flier for missing dogs. Users can create a personal profile page for their dogs, then drop it into the Missing Mode. Members within a designated distance from the missing animal's ZIP code will be notified by the Web site's ticker system, which is similar to a news ticker on a television screen.

Dog owner Mike Casten said he loves the idea.

"I know if I ever lost my little girl (dog), I would want to be able to get her back," he said. "It's just nice to know that there's something like Dognamic out there that would help me."

Lampe said that besides being a place to help find lost dogs, the site is a social networking site.

"There's blogs and you can upload pictures, videos. Imagine MySpace and YouTube and everything combined in terms of those type of tools," he said.

The site also allows users to sell products, post events and browse canine members by location and physical characteristics, such as breed, color and temperament.

There's even a virtual arcade and an instant messenger function on the site.

So for all you doggie citizens out there, the Web site suggests you "feel free to bark."
