The newest candidate to the race is J. Stan McCauley, the head of Hartford Public Access Television.

"All of the problems that face Hartford are problems that can be solved," McCauley said. "I think what Hartford needs is dynamic leadership, consensus building, a focus on the neighborhood, a continued effort on what's going on downtown."

McCauley filed paperwork Monday, officially launching his run for office as a Republican. He said that he'll hold meetings in neighborhoods around the city between now and Election Day to meet prospective voters.

One of Hartford's former mayors also announced that he'd like to make another run to have an office at City Hall.

Thirman Milner, the Democratic mayor from the 1980s, filed papers Monday with the city clerk stating that he's forming an exploratory committee and that he may run as an Independent.

Democrats Mayor Eddie Perez, former deputy mayor I. Charles Matthews, former state Sen. Frank Barrows, state Rep. Art Feltman and state Rep. Minnie Gonzalez have already announced their candidacy in the race.
