Who Supports Who?

The Connecticut primary takes place on "Super Tuesday," Feb. 5. Voters in more than 20 states, including New York and California, will also head to the polls on that date.

The following is a list of local groups and leaders who have announced endorsements.

    • CONGRESS/STATE LEADERS:
      • (Jan. 31) Rep. John Larson, D-District 1, and Rep. Chris Murphy, D-District 5, endorsed U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
      • (Jan. 28) Gov. Jodi Rell and Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele endorsed U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
      • (Jan. 8) Rep. Christopher Shays, R-District 4, endorsed U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
      • (Jan. 15) Former state Democratic Party Chairman George Jepsen endorsed U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.
      • (Jan. 25) State Comptroller Nancy Wyman, local labor unions, endorsed U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.
      • Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., endorsed U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.
      • U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., endorsed U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
      • (U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., said he will remain neutral through the Democratic primary)


    • GREENWICH: (Jan. 7) Former U.S. Senate Democratic candidate Ned Lamont endorsed U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. on Dec. 7


    • MIDDLETOWN: (Jan. 7) Several members of the Middletown Democratic Council endorse U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.


    • NEW HAVEN: (Jan. 7) New Haven Mayor John DeStefano endorsed U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. on Dec. 7


    • ROCKY HILL: (Jan. 20) The Connecticut branch of the American Federation of Teachers, which previously had backed U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., endorsed U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.


    • STAMFORD:
      • (Jan. 4) Stamford Rep. William Tong, D-District 147, also announced his endorsement of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., on Dec. 7. Tong was a former student of Obama's at the University of Chicago Law School ( Video).
      • (Jan. 13) Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy endorsed U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.
