Profile
Chestnut Mountain perches high on a ridge overlooking the Mississippi River near the historic riverport of Galena. Nineteen trails cutting through solid rock bluffs range up to 3,500 feet in length and are geared to all levels. The seven-acre Far Side Terrain Park, complete with its own triple, features a quarter-pipe, two halfpipes, and lots of rails, kickers and jumps. Chestnut, with the hotel and Village Ski Center located on top of the ski hill, features a 475-foot vertical drop, which is big in this part of the heartland. New for 2006/07: two new runs, the black diamond rated "Mine Shaft" and intermediate level "Bobcat." Twelve new Pole Cat Snow Making Guns give Chestnut the largest snowmaking system per acre in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Lodging
The hotel, perched on top of the ridge overlooking the Mississippi River and ski area, features 120 guest rooms, multiple restaurants and lounges, an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and arcade game room.

Recreation
Swimming at lodge, live entertainment in the lounge nightly, movies, cross country skiing, and riverboat gambling located nearby. Alpine slide, mountain biking, and mini-golf available in the summer.
