Science Center Reshaping City's Skyline

Conn. Science Center To Open In 2008

POSTED: 3:14 pm EDT May 2, 2007

The capital city's skyline is ever-changing, as construction of the Connecticut Science Center gets a step closer to completion every day.

The center's parking garage, which will serve as the base for the science center itself, is nearly complete , and workers are erecting the building's steel.

The support beams in the garage have been removed, revealing 468 parking spots. Electrical work, the sprinkler system and storm drains are being completed.

The first beam was put into place on April 18, and on Bring Your Child To Work Day, adults and children signed one of the beams.

Throughout the coming months, the steel that will outline the structure will redefine Hartford's skyline.

The eight-story facility, slated to open in the fall of 2008, will house science exhibits for families and educators, including one for Channel 3.
