HARTFORD, Conn. -- Gov. Jodi Rell and other state lawmakers said Monday that they want to cut proposed funding set aside for the new Connecticut Science Center.Slated to open in June, the budgets proposed by Rell and the Democrats would reduce the appropriations for the center from 15 percent to 2.3 percent -- $237,000 -- and 5 percent -- almost $500 million -- respectively.Officials with the governor's office said cuts are coming across the board, but that they remain a pleased partner of the $162 million science center. The center's director of marketing said the center has had to make revisions because of the economy, including slowing the hiring process.
