I am a mom of 2 beautiful kids. We have a daughter that is 24 and is disabled from an operation gone wrong at 2 days old.She now has cerebal palsy due to loss of oxygen to the brain after surgery.. We moved in our home 10 years ago. I can't afford to makeover my home due to the constant care my daughter requires ..I cannot work a regular job because I care for her needs. Its been very difficult but through therapy and constant care she is greatly improved. We have mismatched furniture and stuco walls that are impossible to paint or clean..A rug that is deep burgandy and with 3 cats requires constant cleaning ... I would love a makeover for my living room just to see a smile on my daughter's face .. Thanks for reading my entry : )
I am submitting a photo of our disaster of a laundry room which has become a dumping ground lately. Honestly, the rest of the house is not this scary! The room has a cement floor and one wall you cannot see has sheet rock and the other wall you cannot see is down to studs. It is approximately 200 square feet. I would love more than anything to convert this to a functional laundry room with cabinets and real walls! The rest of our house is my pride and joy and this room seems to be neglected. My husband is a full time firefighter and we are raising our beautiful 1 year old daughter, and we are planning to have a 2nd baby someday! I think this room is not only ugly, but a hazard to children (and me!). We simply do not have the time or money to do this project ourselves and having this room made over would be a dream come true. We have done all of the other major projects in our home ourselves and having a real, professionally done room would be amazing. Please choose our room for a makeover. There is no other way for this to happen! Thank you for reading my story! PS: I love Better Connecticut!
I have chosen to enter our living room in the Room Makeover Contest. We purchased our home about 5 years ago from my grandparents, the previous and original owners. While my husband was serving overseas in Operation Enduring Freedom, I floated the idea of purchasing their home, that was going to be going up for sale. He liked the idea and now we own and live in the house that my Dad, Uncle and Aunt grew up in. Upon my husband's honorable discharge from the military, he began working and going to school to support our purchase. We use this room everyday for my son to play in, for us to watch TV in, and to entertain. It is an L-shaped living room and we try to keep toys in one half and more of area for adults on the other half. We were able to take up the wall to wall carpeting and expose a beautiful hardwood floor but we have not yet been able to refinish it or remove the wallpaper. A living room makeover would be greatly appreciated for me and my family.
We are currently living in an 1100 square foot single level ranch house (this includes the attached garage). There are a total of five in my family: myself, my husband, our 19 y/o daughter, 18 y/o son and we are also raising our 4 y/o grandson. I have just recently returned to work from a disability leave which has really caused a financial hardship on our family. Additionally, with our troublesome economy, we have had to restructure our budget which has placed even more limitations on our spending. At present, my husband and I share our bedroom with our grandson. It has been difficult sharing such a small space and we would love to convert our garage into the master bedroom so that we may have some much needed privacy. However given that I have just returned to work and the limit of our financial circumstances, we cannot afford to convert the room. Having a master bedroom is an essential component that I feel will to help restore the emotional, physical and mental balance that my family so urgently needs.
Thank you for the chance for a room makeover. We live in a very old small house. My daughter has been sleeping on the living room couch for all of her 9 years,. We have had water damage from faulty installed gutters. We had the gutters re installed but had to gut the moldy room we were to use as a bedroom. I am disabled and cannot afford to pay for the room to be made into a bedroom. We live on a very small income and would love to give our daughter her own bedroom. She has no place to put any of her things, do school work, or sleep in a real bed. Please consider our family for the room makeover contest, as we are in real need. Thank you for the great show everyday.
My husband and I purchased a fixer upper built in 1924 three years ago. We had the greatest intentions of working on the house ourselves. Soon after moving in, we learned that we were pregnant with twins. Unfortunately, the pregnancy was high risk and ultimately, I was hospitalized on bed rest until delivery. This meant that our home renovations took a back seat to our immediate needs to complete the day to day activities of our family life. The twins arrived and our lives were forever changed. My husband and I would love to convert the room pictured into a living room that we can share with our three children. Last week, my husband began to repair the walls where cracks existed. In the process, the ceiling began to fall, which has further stressed our plans. My husband and I are trying our best to accomplish home renovations while both working full-time and raising three children under the age of 4. I would be FOREVER GRATEFUL to create a room where we could share quality time and make a lifetime of memories.
