Over the years, the New London Whalers could play only day games at home -- that all changed on Friday.

Let there be light in The Whaling City as the school brought in portable lights for the first home night game in school history.

The Whalers led by three touchdowns at halftime and then poured it on in the second half with a couple 60-plus-yard touchdown runs.

First, New London's Hailey Barquis ran in a TD, followed a little later by teammate Dominque Griffin.

Both touchdowns played part in New London's rolling over the visiting Saints, under the lights. New London maintained its unbeaten 5-0 record.

New London hosted the co-op program St. Bernard-Norwich Tech on Friday. New London head coach Bob Brackett took over for Jack Cochran, who was accused of punching another coach in August.

An interesting note, St. Bernard head coach Marc Romano preceded Cochran at New London.
