Quinnipiac Names Moore New Hoops Coach

POSTED: 2:45 pm EDT March 29, 2007

(Sports Network) - Quinnipiac University hired Tom Moore as its new head men's basketball coach on Thursday.

Moore replaces Joe DeSantis, who was let go by the school on March 7 after 11 seasons. The Bobcats went just 14-15 overall this past year, but did post an 11-7 mark in Northeast Conference play.

"Tom Moore brings instant recognition and outstanding experience as a collegiate coach to Quinnipiac University," said Jack McDonald, director of athletics and recreation. "We are thrilled to have Tom, Eileen and their three daughters as part of our campus community. I am completely confident that Tom and his staff will bring Quinnipiac basketball to a new level in our fantastic new facility."

Moore, who becomes the sixth head coach in school history, has spent the last 13 years on the coaching staff at the University of Connecticut.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Quinnipiac University family as the head men's basketball coach," said Moore. "The growth of the university under the leadership of President John Lahey has been unparalleled in the Northeast, and I am honored to become a part of that continued quest for excellence."
