Mets' Schoeneweis Denies Steroid Allegations

POSTED: 10:33 am EDT October 2, 2007

(Sports Network) - New York Mets pitcher Scott Schoeneweis denied allegations that he received steroids from Signature Pharmacy in 2003 and 2004.

"I don't even know what that is," Schoeneweis told the New York Daily News. "Steroids in Florida? I never received anything from Florida. I'm not going to comment. I never even heard of it."

Reports surfaced on Monday that Schoeneweis received six steroid shipments from the Orlando, Florida based pharmacy while playing for the Chicago White Sox.

Schoeneweis just completed the first year of a three-year contract with the Mets. The veteran reliever compiled a 5.03 earned run average over 59 innings and was a big part of the Mets' historic late-season collapse.

New York failed to make the postseason after having a seven-game lead in the NL East with just 17 games to play.
