Manager Wants Third Baseman To Have 2nd MRI Before Playing

Alex Rodriguez will undergo a second MRI on his strained quadriceps before playing in a game, manager Joe Girardi said, according to the New York Post.

"He will not play a rehab game before he has the MRI," Girardi told the newspaper.

The three-time AL MVP practiced on the field Wednesday before the Yankees game against the Indians. He jogged around the field before the game, played catch, fielded some grounders and took a light batting practice.

Rodriguez was headed to Tampa Bay on Thursday to play in extended spring training games before rejoining the Yankees. Rodriguez, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list, is eligible to return to New York's lineup late next week.
