(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Lakers dealt guard Patrick Beverley to the Miami Heat for a future second-round pick and cash.

Beverley was selected with the 42nd pick. He played at Arkansas before leaving due to academic problems and then chose to play in Ukraine. Beverley earned Second Team All-SEC honors at Arkansas as a freshman, while also being named SEC Freshman of the Year.

He then joined BC Dnipro of the Ukrainian UBL in October for the 2008-09 season and played in 46 games, averaging a team-high 35.8 minutes per game. He led the team in assists (3.6 apg), steals (2.2 spg), and three-point percentage (.380), while ranking second in scoring (16.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg).
