Shock Sign DeForge

POSTED: 7:49 pm EDT July 10, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Detroit Shock signed free-agent guard Anna DeForge on Friday.

The 33-year-old DeForge began her WNBA career in 2000 with the Shock before playing with Phoenix (2003-05), Indiana (2006-07) and Minnesota (2008). She started in 34 games last season and averaged 8.5 points and 3.0 rebounds.

"The signing of Anna DeForge provides us some needed guard depth," said Shock general manager Cheryl Reeve. "Anna's a proven veteran who can step in right away and provide us perimeter scoring."

DeForge takes the roster spot of Barbara Farris, who was waived by Detroit earlier this week.
