A Connecticut high school football player is headed to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Anticipated as Friday night's marquee matchup, the third-ranked Bristol Central and fourth-ranked Southington game was postponed to Saturday night because of wet conditions at Muzzy Field.

Bristol Central tight end Aaron Hernandez was one of 80 players from the country selected to play in the nationally televised U.S Army game in San Antonio, Texas, in January.

The University of Florida-bound player said he's glad his success is putting the spotlight on his home state.

"I just want to show everyone that Connecticut does have some players, and hopefully, they start looking up here for players," Hernandez told Eyewitness Sports. "There are very good players in Connecticut, including some of my teammates. We have good players up here, and we are underestimated."

Hernandez is the younger brother of University of Connecticut quarterback D.J. Hernandez.
