WFSB-TV-DT Channel 3 has unveiled a new weather and traffic channel on its digital tier.

Eyewitness News NOW provides a new method for people in Connecticut to get local news, weather and traffic information.

The new digital channel -- Eyewitness News NOW -- began broadcasting on Feb. 1, 2007, via one of WFSB's digital channels and live online at WFSB.com.

Eyewitness News NOW is dedicated solely to local information with current weather and traffic conditions, in addition to news, sports and stock headlines continuously displayed on the sides and bottom of the screen.

You can watch weather forecasts updated throughout the day from the Channel 3 Early Warning Weather Center live and via updated pre-recorded video clips -- all powered by live Early Warning Pinpoint Doppler, the state's only local weather radar.

Commuters planning a drive through our state's major thoroughfares can see live, real-time traffic cameras rotated throughout the Eyewitness News NOW broadcast.

"People want immediate access to information, that’s what Eyewitness News NOW provides," said Klarn DePalma, WFSB vice president and general manager. "Local news and Early Warning Weather are available to them when they want it, 24 hours a day."

The new digital channel also affords WFSB-TV-DT more options for covering breaking news and big events without interrupting programs on Channel 3.

"Our mission is to bring people to the scene of what’s going on, to make them an eyewitness. We can put live extended coverage of events on Eyewitness News NOW," said Dana Luby Neves, WFSB news director.

When news breaks, and when big news events take place throughout the course of the day, Eyewitness News NOW will provide livestream video of the coverage from Eyewitness News.

Eyewitness News NOW offers features that include:

  • The local forecast is always on the screen
  • Local forecasts are updated via video and text
  • Live Early Warning Pinpoint Doppler and radar for the Northeast and the Nation
  • 7-day forecasts for towns and cities all around
  • Regional, national and travel forecasts
  • Weather watches, warnings and advisories
  • Breaking news, livestream of big events
  • Local traffic delays and highway traffic cameras
  • Stock updates, sport scores

The new channel is available over the air via WFSB's digital channel 3.3. The channel is also streamed live on WFSB.com.
