Katy Zachry

Eyewitness News Reporter

Katy Zachry joined the Eyewitness News Team in July 2006.

Born in Connecticut, Katy is pleased to be back in her native state after spending much of her life in Pennsylvania.

After graduating from Bucknell University with a degree in geography, Katy moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where she spent a year reporting at KBIM-TV.

From there, Katy moved a few hours north to Albuquerque, where she spent two years at KRQE-TV, covering primarily crime, politics, and education.

During her time in the Southwest, Katy interviewed state and national politicians, including Gov. Bill Richardson, Vice Presidential candidate U.S. Sen. John Edwards, and First Lady Laura Bush. She also reported live from newsman Sam Donaldson's ranch after three employees were found murdered there.

Katy has won several awards from the New Mexico Associated Press for her coverage of breaking news, investigative stories, and general assignment reporting. She also anchored an award-winning newscast.

Before Katy got her start, she interned at Sky News in London; WHYY-TV in Philadelphia; and WHTM-TV in Harrisburg, Pa.

She also spent one summer working at "The Late Show with David Letterman."

When she's not reporting, Katy enjoys spending time with her family and friends and traveling.
