Channel 3 Marrow Donor Drive

Donor Drive Marks Third Year

Join Channel 3 personalities and former UConn basketball star Rebecca Lobo on Friday, Nov. 17, and you can help save a life by participating in the third annual Channel 3 Marrow Donor Drive, presented by the Yale-New Haven Hospital and Wal-Mart.

Thousands of children and adults suffering from leukemia and other blood diseases desperately need marrow or blood cell transplants. Donors of all ethnicities are needed to help make these transplants possible.

You could become the "life-blood" of a patient in need.

Yale-New Haven Hospital is the only hospital in Connecticut performing marrow and blood cell transplants. All it takes to join the national Registry is a painless cheek swab and a few minutes of paperwork. You'll then be part of a team of more than 6 million people nationwide who joined the Registry to help save lives.

There is no cost to register at the Channel 3 Marrow Donor Drive, and healthy people between the ages of 18 and 60 can register to be a marrow donor.

The simultaneous drives will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, at two locations: Yale-New Haven Hospital's East Pavilion Cafeteria in New Haven and the Wal-Mart (495 Flatbush Ave.) in Hartford.
