A plan to crack down on distracted driving is moving forward at the state Capitol.
The Transportation Committee approved a bill that would raise the fines for people caught talking or texting behind the wheel.
If the bill is signed into law, the fine for texting while driving would be $500.
The proposal now heads to the state House of Representatives.
