CAZENOVIA, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they're investigating a domestic incident that left a woman dead in the central New York village of Cazenovia. Authorities say they received a call yesterday morning about an incident at a home near Cazenovia Lake, about 17 miles southeast of Syracuse. Police tell local media outlets that a man is being questioned.
SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a man in his 60s has died after suffering a medical condition while driving his pickup truck in the village of Saranac Lake. Police tell the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that the man's truck crashed into a stone wall yesterday morning.
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) - A new invasive insect has devastated northeastern berry crops, and New York growers are working with Cornell University plant experts to develop strategies to fight it. Binghamton apple grower Dave Johnson tells the Ithaca Journal that the Asian spotted wing fruit fly arrived on the West Coast in 2010 and quickly spread eastward. In just two growing seasons, the fly has put at risk $325 million worth of small fruit in New York.
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Apple-picking season is underway in New York and growers are expecting another good year, following 2013's record crop. Officials tell The Saratogian that growers in the state are expected to harvest more than 30 million bushels this fall. Last year, they picked a record 32 million bushels. The average is around 29 million bushels.
