Jill Konopka joined Channel 3 Eyewitness News in October 2008, after touring parts of Europe as part of a Journalism Fellowship through the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation.
Prior to that, she was the weekend morning anchor at WBRE-TV in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania. She also reported for the Fox affiliate in Rochester, NY and took her first on air position as a "one-man band" at KEVN Fox 7 News in Rapid City, SD. That meant, she photographed, wrote and edited all of her own stories.
Some of her favorite memories out West include interviewing Senators Tom Daschle and John Thune, as well as covering the Sturges Motorcycle Rally and flying in a Chinook helicopter over Mount Rushmore. In the Keystone State, Jill went undercover as a distressed elderly
woman to determine "How Polite is Pennsylvania."
Jill graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo and landed her first job in the
industry behind the scenes in her native Albany, New York.
When she's not reporting, Jill enjoys spending time with her Little Sister in the Big Brothers/Big
Sisters Program. She's also a certified spinning instructor and is currently training for her first Half Marathon.
