HARTFORD, Conn -- The Connecticut Science Center in Hartford announced Wednesday that it has achieved its statewide visitor goal in just two months. Last week, a family from Sterling pushed the Center over the statewide threshold.
"From the earliest days of planning, the founders of this institution said that the Connecticut Science Center would be here for all of Connecticut, and it is. More importantly, citizens from every single town throughout our state have already taken advantage of this new educational destination by coming to experience it firsthand," Matt Fleury, president & CEO of the Science Center said.
To date, over 89,000 visitors have visited the new Science Center and it has received praise from children, parents and educators. In addition to having visitors from every town in Connecticut, field trips from schools as far away as Vermont have passed through its doors. The Connecticut Science Center has a strong online presence as well. Over 15,000 people have subscribed to its e-mail newsletter and it has 1,800 friends on Facebook.
Located in downtown Hartford, the Connecticut Science Center features over 150 exhibits with most of them being interactive. There is also a 200-seat 3D digital cinema. When you're there, be sure to check out our own Channel 3 Early Warning Weather exhibit and produce your own weather forecast.
