A Derby state lawmaker is apologizing for reposting an ethnic slur against the governor on her Twitter account.

State Rep Themis Klarides, a Republican, added "Hahaha" and reposted someone else's Tweet this week that called Gov. Dannel Malloy as mean and referred to the Democrat with an ethnic slur for an Irishman.

Klarides issued an apology Thursday saying she would never have used that word herself and reposted the message "to highlight the hypocrisy of the administration's actions."

State Democratic Party spokeswoman Jacyln Falkowski criticized Klarides and said in a statement that there is no room for "perpetuating hurtful language in Connecticut politics."
