Postal officials accepting applications for temporary employment

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut Valley postal officials have announced that applications are now being accepted for temporary employment as a postal support employee.

Officials said the salary range for the position is $12 to $15.85 an hour, and includes limited health benefits and leave.

Postal support employees are a new category of non-career employee that was established to provide the Postal Service with additional workforce flexibility.

Postal support employees will be appointed for a term that will not exceed 360 calendar days. Officials said that if there is still an operational need, a postal support employee may be reappointed for another 360-day term after a five-day break in service.

Officials said employees may perform a variety of duties to support day to day operations related to mail processing, retail and customer services, maintenance and motor vehicles.
