A fire in Plainfield killed a dog Sunday afternoon, but no one inside the house was hurt, firefighters said.
Crews from six departments were called to the home on Norwich Road at about 4 p.m.
Firefighters said they had the flames out within a half-hour, but the biggest battle was keeping firefighters hydrated in this intense heat and humidity.
The people who live at the house were not home when the fire began, crews said.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
