Gaylord Hospital will be the first hospital in the state to be awarded state funding through a grant from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund for a solar thermal hot water heating project.
The grant, which totals $323,000, will fund the project that's expected to reduce the hospital's consumption and dependence on heating oil.
Gaylord's commitment to the overall health of various communities includes several green solutions like those provided through solar thermal hot water heating.
The project's total cost is expected to be $550,000, which will be offset significantly by the $323,000 grant.
