HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Gov. Dannel Malloy said he's hopeful that Connecticut Light & Power crews can make progress in restoring utility customers still without power 11 days after Winter Storm Alfred slammed the state.

Malloy said after a meeting on Tuesday that CL&P expects to make progress by Tuesday night by bringing in more crews to work in hard-hit areas.

As of 3:30 p.m., more than 12,000 customers were still without power.

More than 831,000 utility customers were left in the dark after the rare and historic storm hit the state on Oct. 29.

It was the most destructive storm outage-wise to ever hit Connecticut, according to records.
