
The state Department of Consumer protection is offering shoppers tips for keeping themselves, their wallets, and their information safe during Cyber Monday.
The agency said it has responded to dozen of consumer complaints in the past year over internet sales.
According to the agency, shoppers should keep the following 12 tips to keep in mind while shopping today.
1. Know who you're dealing with. Deal with well-known online sellers as much as you can. If you're trying out a retailer you are unfamiliar with, at least
2. Know what you're buying.
3. Check out the terms and conditions
4. Buy gift cards ONLY from sources you know
5. Be stingy with your personal information, and use only secure sites.
6. Don't give out your credit card
7. Don't click on a link in an email.
8. Check the privacy policy.
9. Shop around.
10. Should you buy on public WiFi?
11. Pay by credit or charge card.
12. Monitor your financial accounts.
