The Fire Marshal is investigating after a deadly fire Tuesday in Torrington.
It happened just after 8 p.m. at a multi-family home on Pythian Ave.
Police say when they arrived they found the third floor completely engulfed in flames. Officers say they tried to reach a victim trapped on the third floor but were unable to get up there because of the intensity of the fire.
People living on the first and second floors were able to escape without injury.
It took firefighters about an hour to get the flames under control. The third-floor victim was eventually found unresponsive and was taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officials have not released his identity.
One firefighter was also taken to the hospital to be treated for exhaustion but is expected to be OK.
The American Red Cross is now helping the other two people forced out by this fire.
