Former Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez is facing a deadline to file his appeal brief with the state Appellate Court as he fights his corruption convictions.
Perez has until tomorrow to submit the document outlining why he believes he should get a new trial.
Perez's lawyers notified the Appellate Court in October 2010 that they would appeal his five felony convictions, which include taking a bribe and attempted extortion of a developer.
His lawyers have said a state judge was wrong to consolidate two cases against him into one trial.
The 54-year-old Democrat was sentenced to three years in prison in 2010. He has remained free on bail pending his appeal.
