Hot fireplace embers are to blame for two fires over the weekend in Trumbull.
Fire officials said six people were forced out of a home on Elmwood Avenue early Sunday morning.
The other happened on Pert Street on Sunday afternoon when the homeowner put his fireplace ashes in a cardboard box on his enclosed porch.
One man was injured when he tried to put the fire out with his hands.
The fire marshal said if there are any hot embers left after a fire to leave them in the fireplace until they are cool. Put them in a metal can with a lid and put them outside away from any buildings and cars.
When you do finally dump the ashes, spray water on them to make sure they are cool.
