Route 2 reopens following crash, fire

MARLBOROUGH, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut Department of Transportation officials said that Route 2 was briefly closed in Marlborough because of a serious crash Friday morning.

Route 2 was closed westbound between exits 15 and 13 because of the crash and a resulting vehicle fire, DOT officials said.

Connecticut State Police said the left lane of the highway was reopened just before 7 a.m. and the right lane was opened shortly thereafter.

Traffic backups were reported in the area, and motorists were being asked to avoid the area if possible.
