WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police were sent to a West Hartford home twice in a three-hour period after a woman was accused of stealing her boyfriend's watch, then returning to the home later and trying to break in.

Police said a man living at 75 Price Blvd. called police after discovering that his watch was missing after his girlfriend, identified as Marilyn Santiago, 44, of Hartford left his home.

He said that she arrived at the home accusing him of cheating on her. She demanded to be let inside the home, and he agreed to let her inside to look.

While she was searching the home for a possible mistress she stole his watch, according to police.

By the time officers arrived, Santiago had left the home.

The second time police were called to the home, around 1:11 a.m., police said they found Santiago smashing in the front window of the home in an attempt to gain entry.

Police said she already failed to gain entry by trying to smash through the front door.

She was quickly arrested, police said, and it was then discovered that in addition to the smashed window and door, the rear bumper of a vehicle in the driveway was kicked so hard that it was damaged, and a plant in the front lawn was uprooted and thrown at the home.

Santiago was arrested and charged with:

  • Criminal Attempt at Burglary
  • Criminal Trespassing
  • Criminal Mischief (2 Counts)
  • Larceny
  • Breach of Peace

She was held on $50,000 bond and was expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
