Police identify pedestrian struck, killed in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Waterbury have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed Wednesday while crossing the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Pearl Lake Road.

Police said David Maldonado, 29, of Brooklyn, NY, was struck by a Saturn driven by 20-year-old Michelle McGee as he crossed the intersection. Police said Maldonado was taken to St. Mary's Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead. Police said Maldonado was visiting friends and family in Waterbury.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed against McGee at this time.

The roadway was closed for several hours while police collected evidence and reconstructed the crash.
