State police step up patrols for Super Bowl weekend

HARTFORD, CT (AP) -

Connecticut state police are planning to step up their efforts to get drunk drivers off the roads during the Super Bowl weekend.

The game is expected to draw more interest than usual in Connecticut where there are fans of both the New England Patriots and New York Giants.

State police say that could mean a historically busy weekend for them.

Troopers are planning roving DUI patrols, and say they will be out in force in heavily traveled areas beginning Thursday night.
