Pedestrian struck in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

An elderly man suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Waterbury.

It happened at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday on West Main Street, right near Park Place.

Police say Antonio Alvares, 77, was hit while trying to cross the street. He was taken to nearby Waterbury Hospital with serious head and leg injuries.

The 18-year-old driver is not facing charges at this point.
