Ice fishing derby canceled; lack of ice cited as reason

PLYMOUTH, CT (WFSB) -

Officials in Plymouth have canceled an ice fishing derby that was scheduled for Saturday.

Officials with the Terryville Fish and Game Club said that the event was canceled because of the lack of ice on Middle Pond.

Connecticut has seen an extremely mild winter compared to 2011, when storm after storm slammed the state causing dozens of roofs to collapse from the weight of all the snow and ice.

It was unknown if the event will be rescheduled.
