GROTON, CT (WFSB) -

Emergency crews in Groton responded to reports of a fire Friday morning, and officials said it may have started from discarded ashes from a fireplace.

The blaze raced up the side of the home on Great Brook Road just before 11 a.m. and several local fire departments responded to extinguish the blaze.

The Naval Submarine Base in Groton also is being credited for its quick response to the fire to help put it out as well.

No injuries have been reported.

The fire remains under investigation.
