Condo fire in Norwalk displaces multiple families

NORWALK, CT (WFSB) -

The Norwalk fire marshal is investigating what caused a condo fire that left more than a dozen people without  homes, early Sunday morning.

It happened at the Silver Ridge condominiums on Oakwood Avenue in Norwalk.

According to officials, crews arrived on the scene shortly before 6 a.m., and continued fighting the blaze for hours.

Officials said two residents were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The Norwalk fire chief said 15 units were deemed unsafe after the fire. Six units suffered smoke and water damage and the other nine had heavy fire damage.

The American Red Cross is helping families affected by the fire with shelter as well as other personal care items.

The Norwalk fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire and no other details have been released.
