MERIDEN, CT (WFSB) -
A shooting that had originally been called an "untimely death" has been ruled a homicide.
Meriden police said an autopsy performed by the state Medical Examiner's officer found that 48-year-old Richard West was the victim of a homicide, not a suicide.
Police found West unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his chest around 1:15 a.m. on Feb. 3.
Meriden police had received a 911 call regarding a man with injuries in a first floor apartment on Olive Street.
Police are investigating the homicide and ask anyone with information regarding the matter to contact Detective John Wagner at (203) 630-6318.
