Police apprehend Suffield suspect

SUFFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

Suffield police have apprehended a suspect who fled after putting a college campus on alert.

Police said they apprehended 19-year-old Dale Wakefield in Windsor Locks on Route 159 near the bridge to East Windsor. 

According to police, Wakefield, a student at Lincoln Technical Institute, caused an issue earlier in the evening when he got into an argument with campus security and pulled the fire alarm.

During the early morning hours in Suffield, some 40 officers from several  police departments including Suffield, Enfield, Windsor Locks, Agawam, Massachusetts and a SWAT Team searched for Wakefield.

He is a Pennsylvania native who attends Lincoln Technical School, and who police believe was upset about the recent death of his father.  

Police said they tracked down the student's cell phone to find him.
