Middletown student hit by vehicle near school

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

Middletown school officials said a 15-year-old high school student was hit by a car while crossing the street at the intersection of LaRosa Lane and Newfield Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said they believe the teen was struck by a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Brian Bomely, 52, of Middletown, who was traveling in an easterly direction in the left side travel lane on LaRosa Lane.

The student crossed between two school buses traveling in the right side travel lane, and into the path of the vehicle.

The student was transported to a local hospital and is expected to be OK.

One parent who was picking up her son said she saw the student dart out into traffic then hit the ground. She said it happened so quickly there was nothing she could do.
