Residents in one section of Norwich are pretty peeved at the U.S. Postal Service for closing the Yantic post office early this week and only saying it had to do with security and safety.
Villagers are wondering if it will ever open again.
According to postal officials, they noticed, quote, "deficiencies in safety and security at the site."
Sonny Dubicki was a little disappointed as he read the sign tacked up on the office's front door.
"I found out it was closing, came down here to see what was going on because I have a P.O. box here, so got to know what to do," Dubicki said.
There's no home delivery in the village, so everyone uses a P.O. box at the office.
Residents will still be able to use their same address, but now they must head to Bozrah, a little more than a mile away.
"Normally I walk down here everyday to get my mail, and now I have to get in a car and drive to get my mail," said Freddie Gimbert of Yantic.
An emergency suspension doesn't mean the post office will close permanently, but it does trigger an automatic review.
The post office will look into the issues before making a decision sometime down the road.
