
State police are investigating a crash that occurred Sunday night involving a Fairfield police officer.
State police said the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Interstate 95 in Fairfield as the officer was responding to a call.
According to police, the officer, 36-year-old Edward Weihe Jr., was attempting to go around a vehicle when he lost control.
The driver of the second vehicle, 38-year-old Florence Opoku of Meriden, panicked, police said and lost control of her car striking the center median.
Weihe and Opoku both were transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center for neck and back injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
