State senator to push plan to cap gas tax

CHESHIRE, CT (WFSB) -

Gas prices in Connecticut could reach $4.25 by April, and on Monday morning a state senator is going to be pushing his plan to try and ease the pain at the pump.

Sen. Len Suzio wanted Connecticut to cap the state's Gross Receipts Tax. He said the tax adds an extra 25 cents a gallon.

On Monday, he will visit Cheshire, Middletown and Meriden to push his plan.

Last week, some lawmakers spoke out against the proposal, saying it won't lead to lower prices for drivers.
