State police are investigating a report of suspected child abuse after a 20-month old boy showed up at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital over the weekend with a fractured skull, fractured left arm, contusions and abrasions.
Police said the child's biological mother said the boy was with her estranged husband when the injuries occurred. The boy was transferred via Lifestar to Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford because of the severity of his injuries.
State police said they've located and interviewed several witnesses in the case and searched a New Hartford and Torrington residence.
The state Department of Children and Families is assisting in the care of a second child in this case, police said.
