GLASTONBURY, CT (WFSB) -

Glastonbury police thanked residents in town after they provided constant updates on where a suspect had been hiding in the woods in an attempt to elude police.

Glastonbury police were called to Bidwell Street on Wednesday afternoon after receiving reports of a man running from the backyard of a home into the woods.

Police located and arrested the man, identified as John Ellis, 19, of East Hartford a short time later.

Another man, identified as Richard Magistri, 18, of East Hartford remained at large for nearly three hours by running through backyards and hiding in the woods.

Thanks to continued citizen reports, Glastonbury police said, Magistri was located and arrested in a wooded area off Olde Stage Road.

Police recovered nearly $10,000 of stolen jewelry and money after the arrest.

Glastonbury police said they were thankful of residents who remained vigilant and reported the whereabouts of Magistri to police until his arrest.
