Friday marks a sad anniversary in one Middle Tennessee community. Holly Bobo has been missing for a full year.
But her family, friends and even strangers promise to never give up hope they will one day find her. Now, the Darden and Parsons communities are coming together to raise awareness.
By now, we've all seen Bobo's picture. But the family is releasing something new: videotape of Holly singing at church at age 19.
She was 20 when she disappeared.
An entire community put life on hold. Family, friends and even strangers got down on their hands and knees searching for clues.
"Just thousands and thousands have been involved in searching for Holly Bobo," said her pastor, Don Franks.
Since then, there have been countless prayer vigils and balloon releases. A trucking company launched a nation-wide picture campaign and Holly's mom, Karen Bobo, spent her days going door to door.
"Every single day we do something. This community does something to try and find Holly and bring her back home," Franks said.
It's a search that's been plagued with obstacles, rumors, false tips and intruders.
The Channel 4 I-Team revealed the TBI investigated a man for allegedly purposefully interrupting the investigation.
"We have to deal with those types of things so we're used to it, but I don't think anyone can talk about being frustrated when we know what the Bobo family goes through every night," said Lieutenant Brad Wilbanks with the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
One year later, Parsons, TN, looks a lot different, though it's clear no one has given up.
"We're not going to quit until we find her," Franks said.
The hope now is seeing her face and hearing her voice, for the first time in a long time, will help reinvigorate this community and bring Holly back where she belongs.
"It's going to stir the conscience, I mean, people are going to remember, 'Hey this is real. This has happened.' Even though it's been a year, we still need to be focused on finding this young lady. We need to get her back to her family," Wilbanks said.
Friday's events were to include a discussion with students and a TBI agent on stranger danger, a motorcycle ride, prayer vigil and a balloon release in Holly's honor.
And Bobo's pastor says all this week neighbors have been leaving their porch lights on in hopes it will light the way home for Holly.
