A Manchester man has been arrested by South Windsor police after being warned to stop contacting a 12-year-old.
Daniel DeJesus, 23, of Seaman Circle in Manchester was being investigated in 2011 after a local man complained that his 12-year-old was receiving inappropriate text messages from an adult man.
Police said in November the girl got a series of text messages from DeJesus. She texted him back telling him to stop because she did not know who he was.
Instead of backing off DeJesus asked the girl is she had a Facebook page and told her he wanted to meet her. When they girl asked him to stop, he responded by sending her a picture of himself and his private area.
When an officer tried to call DeJesus he hung up on him. Instead, police said DeJesus texted the girl asking why she called the authorities.
His number was deactivated shortly after.
Police then obtained a search warrant for the cell phone used to send the pictures.
It was determined that the phone belonged to DeJesus and his Department of Corrections photograph matched the one he sent to the 12-year-old.
He was charged with risk of injury to a minor and harassment.
On Friday in court, DeJesus' attorney said he has mental health issues.
DeJesus has a criminal history including breach of peace and disorderly conduct.
