The site of the proposed Connecticut Trees of Honor Memorial is being announced.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is expected to be on hand for the announcement. The afternoon news conference is scheduled for Tuesday at the Veterans' Memorial Park in Middletown.
Organizers want to plant a shade tree for each Connecticut member of the military that has died serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. A personalized plaque will be displayed next to each tree.
The memorial is being funded with donations from the public.
It will feature walkways, flower gardens, benches, flagpoles, statues and lighting. There will also be a reflective area for visitors.
