ENFIELD, CT (WFSB) -
Recently people across Connecticut have reported seeing bears roam the streets, rummage through bird feeders and garbage, and even sightings of a moose have been reported, but what about an alligator?
That's what the town of Enfield is dealing with after residents there reported seeing one near the Connecticut River.
Enfield police Sgt. Mark Squires said reports of alligator sightings were received around 7 a.m. in the Thompsonville section of town.
Officials from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection were called to the area and eventually caught it.
Officials said the alligator was wearing a collar but didn't have a leash, so they are working to figure out where it came from.
